Ⅰ. Submission of Manuscripts
Ⅱ. Preparation of Manuscripts

Ⅰ. Submission of Manuscripts
Electronic Materials Letters invites original papers and reviews on all aspects of research and technology in electronic materials.

Submission: The manuscript should be edited by someone whose native language is English, before submission.
A manuscript prepared in English should be submitted online to the journal homepage (
http://submit.e-eml.org) in a single file (preferably in pdf format) containing the following materials in the order shown:
(1) Title, authors, affiliations, abstract, and keywords.
(2) Main text of the manuscript.
(3) Acknowledgments and references.
(4) Table titles/figure captions and tables/figures.
(5) Table of contents (TOC) image.
The length of a manuscript should not exceed ten journal pages.

Prior Publications: Submission of a manuscript represents that the work submitted has neither been copyrighted, published, nor submitted for publication elsewhere in any other medium, including electronic journals and computer databases of a public nature. Any prior publication is a basis for rejection. An appearance in conference proceedings or a similar special presentation with limited distribution is not necessarily a prior publication.

Review Processes: The submitted manuscriptwill be judged bytwo qualified reviewers assigned by editors, assuring that the reviews are comprehensive and fair. The editor-in-chief makes the final decision regarding the paper based on the review results within approximately four weeks after the submission.

Accepted Manuscript: If authors supply usable color graphic files, illustrations will appear in color in the online journal, free of charge to the authors. However, authors must bear the cost of any color they use in the printed journal. Also, authors are entitle to receive reprints, and they must pay the extra charge.

Copyright: Upon acceptance of a paper, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copyright of the paper to the publisher, The Korean Institute of Metals and Materials. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of the information.

Ethics: For the policies on the research and publication ethics not stated in this instructions, international standards for editors and authors (http://publicationethics.org/international-standards-editors-and-authors) can be applied.

Publication Charge: There is a publication charge of 40,000 Won per page. The payment includes a EML edition of the regular issue, and reprints are not provided.

Ⅱ. Preparation of Manuscripts

The first letter of each word should begin with a capital letter exclusive of any articles, conjunctions, and prepositions in it. The first word after a hyphen should also be capitalized.
Example: “Mn-Doped Nanoparticle Synthesis with In Situ X-Ray Diffraction and Time-Resolved Photoluminescence”

A running title of no more than 50 characters should be included.

Bylines should include all those who have made substantial contributions to the work. All authors’ names should be written in their full form, and at least one author should be designated with an e-mail address as the corresponding author.

Affiliations should include the following information in the order of Department, Institute, City, Zip Code, and Country.

Abstract should not exceed 200 words. Up to 6 keywords can be included.

Text should be concise and written in clear and plain English.
(1) The International System of Units (SI) should be employed throughout the text.
(2) Abbreviations should be defined when they first occur in a manuscript.
Example: “The x-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL) are examined.” → “The XRD and PL are examined.”
(3) The mathematical equations should be expressedin italic type, and the equations should be numbered consecutively throughout the text with algebraic numerals in parentheses, such as (1), (2), and (3), without connecting lines after each equation.
(4) Simple equations can be expressed in one line using slashes and parentheses.
     Example: can be represented as (a + b)/(c + d).
(5) Tables and figures must be accompanied by table titles and figure captions, respectively, above the describing tables and below the corresponding figures. The sizes of figures and photographs should be between 8 and 17 cm in width.

Figures should be less than 20 MB in size for electronic upload. Figures should be supplied in the TIFF, JPEG, GIF or EPS format at a final resolution of more than 300 dpi.

Figure captions should be typed consecutively on a separate sheet of paper. Provide sufficient explanation to render the figure intelligible without reference to the text. For any copyrighted material, indicate that permission has been obtained.

References must be numbered throughout the manuscript using a solid bracket, e.g., [1,2,6] or [4-7]. Examples are:
(1) Journal: authors, journal title, vol., page (year).
I. S. Oh, G. M. Kim, S. H. Han, and S. Y. Oh, Electron. Mater. Lett. 9, 375 (2013).
S. Jin, Electron. Mater. Lett. (in press).

(2) Conference Proceeding or Book: authors, proceeding (editor) or book, page, publisher, place (year).
T. K. Ha and Y. W. Chang, Proc. 2nd Pacific Rim Int. Conf. on Adv. Mater. & Processing (eds., K. S. Shin, J. K. Yoon, and S. J. Kim),
p. 253, Korean Inst. Metals & Mater., Gyongju, Korea (1995).

(3) Web Page: authors, title, URL (year).
D. Becker, The Beowulf Project, http://www.beowulf.org (1994).

(4) Thesis: author, thesis, page, university, city (year).
C. H. Kim, Ph.D. Thesis, pp. 97-116, Daehan University, Seoul (2008).

Table of Contents (TOC) Image is required. The illustration should capture the readers’ attention and, in conjunction with the manuscript title, should give a quick visual impression of the essence of the paper without providing specific results. The graphic should be in the form of a structure, graphical image, photograph, reaction scheme, or equation. The authors must submit the graphic in the actual size to be used for the TOC, fitting in an area 4.5 cm high and 6.5 cm wide. Larger images will be reduced to fit within those dimensions. The type size of labels and other symbols within the graphic must be legible, and tables are not acceptable. Provide the TOC graphic upon submission of the paper as the last page of the manuscript.
